Renault celebrates with the SUITE N°4 concept car

Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Renault 4, Renault has teamed up with designer Mathieu Lehanneur to create the Renault SUITE N°4 concept car.

“The collaboration with Mathieu Lehanneur was a natural fit.” said Arnaud Belloni, Renault Brand Global Marketing Director. “We asked him to come up with a concept car showcasing his vision for the 4L. The finished product was extraordinary. A car which really encapsulates everything the brand has set out to achieve through the Renaulution strategic plan: create modern and innovative cars that provoke emotions.”

Mathieu Lehanneur’s vision for the Renault SUITE N°4.

Inspired by the nomad hotel suite, Mathieu Lehanneur’s vision was to combine the worlds of automobile and architecture. To do this and keep the Renault 4L at the heart of the SUITE N°4, Lehanneur kept the iconic lights, lines and silhouette of the original car. The grille was then finished with polished aluminium for a fluid appearance and the body has three coats of paint to look like cement. Finally, the body of the car is almost all glass, much like the large windows of tall buildings.

“SUITE N°4 opens the door to a new kind of mobility that strives to make people live experiences. I wanted to merge the worlds of cars and architecture to create an open-air hotel room. Even better than the finest palatial suite, the car is exactly where you want it to be, whether that’s by the sea, in the middle of a field or driving around the city you’ve always dreamed of.” says designer Mathieu Lehanneur.

An open interior that feels like a home and functions like a bench.

The interior of the Renault SUITE N°4, Mathieu Lehanneur used upholstery fabric for a warm, energetic feel. The seats and dashboard are covered with yellow velvet while the backs of the seats have a thick, ribbed chenille fabric.

Probably the most exciting part of this concept is the boot. When open, you can see the natural fibre floor and a wooden drawer. The drawer itself can be removed to create a sheltered seating area. Perfect for just enjoying where you decide to park.

We really enjoyed this concept and are a little sad that it will remain as so. Just the sight of this little Renault makes us think of what kind of view do we want to see from its rear seat.
