New Nissan Magnite engine reveal

Nissan recently revealed the production version of the new Magnite and now we know a little more about it. It’s set for South Africa but the specs we saw before were specifically for India. Now, we have some confirmed details about what to expect when the car reaches our local shores.

A reminder of the exterior design.

To catch you up on what we saw before, the Nissan Magnite looks a little like a Datsun. This is no mistake as the design was originally made for that brand. Unfortunately, Datsun has been reduced in size and the Magnite has been passed onto Nissan. Fortunately, they wear it well.

The front also features sharp headlights with L-shaped LED DRLs as well as skip plates that also feature on the rear. The sixteen-inch wheels are surrounded by rugged plastic cladding and up top, there are very subtle roof rails. We think it’s possible to miss them if their colour blended in.

Interior features that were revealed.

Inside the car, things are kept very minimalistic. An eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system seems to be standard as well as a 3.5-inch drive information display. The system is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto.

The rest of the details that we have are all for low to mid-spec models and they list as follows:

  • Auto climate control
  • Electrically adjustable side mirrors
  • Electric windows
  • Multifunction steering wheel
  • Six-speaker audio system

As for the top of the range, we only know what India has right now. Nissan has been very slow to reveal what the local Magnite will be like.

One thing we do know is that there will also be an optional Technology Package that includes:

  • Air purifier.
  • Ambient lighting.
  • JBL speakers.
  • Puddle lamps.
  • Wireless charging pad.

The big reveal for the Nissan Magnite.

The most important piece of news we have received about the Nissan Magnite is the engine. Nissan confirmed a new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produced 74 kW and 170 Nm. This can be mated to the buyer’s choice of a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
