3 Carroll Shelby Signature Edition Mustangs for SA
After what Shelby says took them two years, Ford has now announced that three Carroll Shelby Signature Edition Mustangs will arrive in South Africa. There will be a total of 50 units built all with unique Shelby design.
All three units will be entered into the official Shelby Registry and cost around R2,708,000. Ford says that the exchange rate may change that exact number.

Even though there will only be three units, buyers will still get choices. For starters, a choice of fastback or convertible. Next is the transmission which we will cover after this.
It doesn’t matter which one you pick, the unique Carroll Shelby Signature Edition design remains the same for all three. This includes wider fenders that surround single-piece forged monoblock wheels and give space for the tweaked MagneRide suspension. The bonnet has been reshaped to be more aggressive as well as the front facia.
The last details for the exterior include a new rear spoiler, diffuser and panel inserted between the Taillamps.
Inside remains mostly the same with the exception of the Shelby branding. You wouldn’t want to own one of these and start thinking that you are in a standard Mustang. The branding can be found on the floor mats, door-sill plates and gauge cluster.
An extra option comes in the choice of rear seats, or the lack thereof. Those seats can be removed and replaced with a harness bar.
A custom supercharger to boost the performance.
Inside the car lies the monster 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine which Carroll Shelby game a custom Edelbrock supercharger for the Signature Edition model. This pushes the peak power to around 600 kW. More additions include a Borla exhaust system and a Brembo braking system.
As always, the car is rear-wheel driven but buyers can choose whether they want a manual or automatic transmission.
