Meet the new Opel Crossland

Opel has unveiled the new Crossland that will be expected to launch soon. This will continue the brand’s next generation of small cars. We will likely see this new Opel Crossland on offer locally since the previous generation has done fairly well. The images of this updated model are still branded under Vauxhall since the launch will be in Europe first, but we expect to see the familiar Opel badge soon.

New Crossland design with Opel Mokka inspiration.

We can see a lot of cues from the recently revealed Opel Mokka which this car fits just under in the line-up. A lot of is new with the second generation Opel Crossland including LED headlights and taillights. Redesigned bumpers just underneath them sit next to the new 17-inch alloy wheels.

A GS Line+ trim will be added to the top of the range for this Crossland that will give it black wheels and roof while adding rood rails and upgraded seats.

Updated interior with adjustable rear seats.

Following on from the upgraded seats, the cabin of the Opel Crossland will be complete with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The rear seats have both a reclining and sliding function that will allow the rear seats to move back and forth by 150 mm. Opel says that with the seats back, the Crossland will have a luggage space of 410 litres and 520 litres when the seats are pushed forward. With the seats folded down, that space expands to 1255 litres.

Five engine options available in Europe.

Following all the new exterior parts, Opel has created new springs, dampers and revised the steering setup for the new Crossland. Right now, we only know which engines the European market will be receiving. But, if we are to get the new Crossland locally, we imagine the engine offering will be very similar.

These engines include three petrol and two diesel options. All petrol options have a 1.2-litre engine that either produce 61 kW and 118 Nm with a five-speed manual gearbox, 81 kW and 250 Nm through a manual gearbox or 96 kW and 230 Nm through a manual or automatic transmission.

The diesel options both have a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. The first powers 81 kW and 250 Nm through a six-speed manual gearbox while the other has 88 kW and 300 Nm with a six-speed automatic transmission.
