Cancelled Honda BR-V lives on in SA

Recently announced by Honda India, the production of the BR-V will be discontinued. This versatile 7-seater compact SUV is, however, a core model in South Africa. As such, it will not be discontinued here.

“Honda Motor Southern Africa has no plans to discontinue the BR-V and is currently securing sufficient stock of the BR-V from India while the alternate factory is being set up for production.” – Dinesh Govender, General Manager of Automobiles at Honda Motor Southern Africa.

“The BR-V remains one of our pillar models in the local line-up and is currently the only seven-seater sport utility vehicle (SUV) in its price class. This affords the BR-V a significant advantage over its competitors, and consistently makes it one of our top two best-sellers in South Africa along with the Honda Amaze compact sedan.”

While we do not know where Honda will source future BR-V’s from, it’s a promising future for this SUV especially since it recently had an update for 2020.

With minor upgrades like more chrome and redesigned wheels, the latest BR-V has a much better seating position than it did in 2019 which greatly improves the feel of the ride. If you are looking to get one, you will have three model options, trend, comfort and elegance. The price starts at R258 800 but if you want more technology, the prices start a little higher at R314 400.
