Fuel plummets during lockdown
The AA have recently released their statement on the new fuel prices in South Africa and how they have fallen during our lockdown. Now is the time to refuel your car for when the country goes back to business.
Petrol has dropped by R1.89, diesel by R1.17 and paraffin by R1.88 per litre. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to take full advantage of the lower fuel prices, but for the small drives to essential stores, it will help.
The AA have said that there are more factors than just the COVID-19 pandemic will affected the fuel price.
“The spat between Russia and Saudi Arabia has ended with an agreement which is expected to see global oil production reduced by nearly ten million barrels a day in a bid to support oil prices.” – AA
The spat has come to an end a little too late as the AA points out. They say that even if the pandemic came to a rapid end, it would take months even years before the global economy can return to its previous state. This means that it could be a long time until we see the fuel price climb back up.
At this current time, things are difficult to predict. But, this a little bit of good news while things are so difficult. If your car has been in quarantine too, you may want to read about how to care for your car in lockdown before you head back on the road.
