Giulia Quadrifoglio wins a third COTY

There’s no doubt that the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is an amazing car. It both looks good and drives well. For two years now, the Giulia has stood the test of time for ‘What Car?’ and Alfa Romeo kept their ground in the third. Winning ‘Performance Car of the Year’ in 2020.

Winning over the What Car? experts

With its class-leading driving dynamics and unique aluminum 2.9-litre Alfa Romeo V6 Bi-Turbo engine, the experts at ‘What Car?’ were won over.

“Despite an actual power output of 510 HP (380 kW) and rear-wheel drive, it is not a monster of a car. Traction is excellent, whatever the weather. The gears are always smooth, so long journeys pass by comfortably, making the Giulia a performance car you can use every day.” Says Steve Huntingford, the Editor of ‘What Car?’.

With an aerodynamic design, the Giulia’s engine gets it to a top speed of 307 km/h, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. While reaching those speeds, the Alfa™ Link keeps you completely in control.

That said, the Giulia Quadrifoglio still does not quite match up to some of its biggest competitors. BMW and Mercedes Benz still beat the interior and overall internal system. Still covering all the basics, the Quadrifoglio is definitely a step up from its previous Giulias. Keeping all the practicality of what you would expect from a Giulia.

It is strictly a 4 seater unless you get creative. While the boot is as large as you can expect from all competitors in this range. So, enough space you need for luggage, but not if you are needing to transport something bigger as you cannot lower the back seats.

If you have the kind of money for one, the Giulia Quadrifoglio is a great option. Where the interior may be behind, it more than makes up for that with a powerful engine and great driving experience.

It’s no wonder the Giulia has won the COTY award for the third time in a row.
