BMW lands new X5 M and X6 M in South Africa

BMW have finally launched their new X5 M and X6 M models in South Africa. After many delays, some of the figures have changed since we first heard about these cars in May 2020, but that only means we have more to talk about. In terms of what will be available in South Africa, for now, we will only see the Competition versions. Let’s talk about what’s new.

The new BMW X5 M and X6M both look fantastic.

It’s your regular big strong BMW SUV that these cars have. The grille and air vents are massive and can be further enhanced with a unique black exterior design package. The wheels follow on in terms of size, and much like a Porsche, the wheels aren’t all the same size. In the front there is 21-inch and at the back, there are 22-inch alloys.

Climbing inside meats you with instant comfort with the BMW named ‘M multifunctional’ seats made with Merino leather. Every other part of the interior is fantastic too with easy to access features including the M buttons on the steering wheel. With a lot of BMW’s latest tech, you won’t even need to be driving to enjoy this car.

Both built with the same engine.

Both the BMW X5 M and X6 M have a twin-turbo 4,4-litre V8 petrol engine that drives all four wheels with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. This will fetch you 460 kW and 750 Nm in the BMW X5 M. For both models, speed and acceleration come easy. You could reach 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and get to a top speed of 290 km/h.

As standard in the Competition trim, the BMW X5 M and X6 M get a specifically tuned M suspension system that combines stiff mountings, enhanced camber values, active roll stabilization and continuous electronic damper adjustment at each wheel. As usual, BMW does offer more features in terms of diver assistance which you can add optionally.

Price

The X5 M Competition will start at R2 632 258 while the X6 M Competition will be R2 733 420. We look forward to seeing these cars on our roads and talking more about them in the future.
