Lotus has given their SUV a name: Eletre

After a very unexpected announcement, Lotus has revealed the name of their upcoming SUV, the Eletre. The iconic supercar manufacturer is taking its own shot at the SUV market that we previously knew as the Type 132. Since then, renderings have been seen and now the name has been made official.

What we know about the Lotus Eletre.

From what we can tell from the grey renderings of the Lotus Eletra, it is going to feature a very similar design language to the Emira. We do need to note that a lot of detail can be missed or hidden away in these designs so it can be difficult to tell what to expect.

One thing that is impossible to miss is the very harsh sloping roof that will aid with aerodynamics but also severely limit space for the rear passengers. If you weren’t going for a sporty SUV to have passengers and boot space then your money would probably be better spent buying the Emira of the company’s other upcoming EVs.

Lotus has also mentioned that the Eletre will feature active grille shutters which will improve aerodynamics and cool the vehicle down.

News from Autocar.co.uk has also given us some expectations for performance. According to them, there will be two four-wheel-drive variants. There will be a 92 and 100 kWh battery supplying either 450 kW or 560 kW of power. Lotus claims this will get the Eletra from zero to 100 km/h in less than three seconds.
