Volkswagen reveal Transporter Sportline
Volkswagen has revealed the Sportline version of the Transporter T6.1 series and then a Black Edition too. This Sportline treatment will be offered on both the Transporter and Kombi. So both work and family just got a little faster. But not really since the 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine remains the same.
A GTI like look on the Volkswagen Transporter Sportline.
The font-end has relieved a big update with the most noticeable feature being the Golf GTI-like red line spanning the width of the grille. The Sportline version also rides on 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels and has a rood spoiler for a sporty style, not that it would help very much. To boost the look, Volkswagen has dropped the Transporter Sportline suspension by 30mm.
The Black Edition is essentially more money for new paint but it does come with unique wheels and an Eibach Coilover suspension. As part of the Black Editions package, buyers will get tinted windows, matt black sidebars and decals between the wheels.
Updates to the cabin.
Inside, the Sportline versions of the Transporter and Kombi will get Nappa leather finished in a honeycomb pattern and suede trim. The front seats are also heated while the whole interior benefits from an upgraded sound system. The cars will also get front and rear parking sensors with a rearview camera and adaptive cruise control.
While these cars don’t benefit from any performance upgrades, they sure do look like they would. We are curious, if Volkswagen brought the Sportline version of the Transporter or Kombi to South Africa, would it be on your radar for a next car?
