2021 Opel Corsa lands in South Africa
The new sixth-generation 2021 Opel Corsa has landed in South Africa. Right now there will only be one version available, but Opel has said that there will be more to come later in the first quarter of 2021. We have price and specifications available for this model, so let’s get right to them.
New looks for the new 2021 Opel Corsa.
Having a shift in ownership to Peugeot-Citroen, we are pleasantly surprised that the 2021 Opel Corsa did not just copy the new models of the Peugeot. It is less van-like than the previous generation measuring lower, longer and thinner than before. Even then, it’s still recognisable but mostly from the rear. The new face is a lot more stern and serious.
Opel says that they have made clever use of lightweight materials which helps with fuel economy and keeps the 2021 Corsa under 1000 kg. This all rides on 16-inch alloy wheels.
Nothing special inside the cabin.
Inside the cabin is nothing to be too excited about. It’s black and grey colours keep some interest, but the surfaces are almost all hard plastic. Higher-level trims have been shown to have bright red highlights that really make the interior pop. Hopefully, when Opel reveals the next trim-levels for South Africa, they will follow suit.
The seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes with the same system we saw in the Peugeot 208. This includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. In the back, you can expect there to not be much room for adults. With limited leg and headroom, you don’t want to be driving your friends very far. The luggage space did increase slightly to a claimed 309 litres.

Powering the 2021 Opel Corsa is a naturally-aspirated 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that drives 55 kW and 118 Nm to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. In Europe, there are diesel and automatic transmission options that may also make their way here at a later date. Right now, this model has a fuel economy of 5.8 L/100 km.
As standard, the safety features include ABS, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, six airbags, Isofix child-seat anchors and seatbelt reminders.
The new Opel Corsa price in South Africa
The 2021 Opel Corsa will come with a three-year/45,000 km service plan with 15,000 km intervals and a three-year/120,000 km warranty are included in the price. The price of the car starts at R289,900.
