Hyundai kept the IONIQ 5 close to the 45 concept that inspired it. We are very glad that they did as we love the sharp edges that frame all the flat surfaces on the car. Take notes here Tesla.

This will also be the first Hyundai to feature a clamshell hood. It spans the entire width of the car. Hyundai says that it’s to minimise “panel gaps and creating a clean and high-tech overall look.”

Both headlights and taillights are “pixel-inspired” which gives throws in the perfect amount of retro feel to make the IONIQ 5 feel more futuristic. Hyundai did shy away from the more 3D pixel lights, going for flat pixels in this car.

Massive 20-inch aero-optimised wheels carry the IONIQ 5 with a unique dual-tone pattern. These are surrounded by textured wheel arches which we don’t know how to feel about just yet.
