Cadillac PAV Pod and EVTOL concept revealed

Cadillac has revealed two very ambitious concepts for autonomous transport, the first being the PAV Pod or personal autonomous vehicle. The concept is not far off the Zoox robotaxi, but the PAV Pod has a very different target market in mind. It’s designed to be a social space while driving to an event.

Imagine this being the luxury Zoox. More on the second concept below.

The Cadillac PAV Pod concept would fit right into a sci-fi movie.

The sides are windowless and the body panels are smooth and black. They could fit this pod into any futuristic sci-fi movie and we wouldn’t have guessed that this is a real-life concept. It’s not all dark inside thanks to a complete glass roof.

I think the only issue there is that you will have to crank your neck back to get any kind of view. This is also not the most helpful thing for passengers that suffer from motion sickness. The irregular driving of a computer system combined with nausea.

Inside the Cadillac PAV Pod is a  rather comfortable looking lounge. As you enter it though, the PAV Pod will scan you with biometric sensors that it has in its seats. It will do this to adjust the temperature, humidity, aroma and light of the interior.

The settings cal also be manually controlled via voice commands and hand gestures. Passengers can even adjust cameras to take photos from inside the PAV Pod.

Fly away with EVTOL.

The second concept that Cadillac revealed is the EVTOL or electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. This is a much more ambitious concept that will fly a single passenger to their destination. It’s the autonomous driving version of a private helicopter.

Cadillac says that the EVTOL would be built with a 90 kWh battery that powers eight rotors. This, according to Cadillac, will allow the EVTOL to travel up to 145 km/h around the sky.
