New Renault Duster bakkie

Usually known to be a five-door SUV, Renault has turned their Duster into a single-cab bakkie. This was revealed by Renault’s Romanian subsidiary, Dacia which will offer it to their local market with the name of Oroch. Unfortunately, there is no word on the Duster bakkie going anywhere else, but that doesn’t mean we can’t hope.

This isn’t the first time Renault has shown the Duster Oroch. In 2014, the brand unveiled a double-cab version of the bakkie.

Keeping the Duster in the new Renault Bakkie.

Carrying over all the original looks, Renault has made the Oroch bakkie a little shorter than the SUV Duster. 14 millimetres to be exact. Where a passenger and boot would be, there is now a 1,65-metre long load box that has a capacity of 1000 litres and 500 kilograms.

Everything else is the same Duster with the exception fo the badge since it is carrying the Dacia logo.

Promising off-road performance.

The bakkie boasts a fair amount of performance and should be very off-road capable with a 1.5-litre turbodiesel that powers all four wheels. Controlled by a six-speed manual transmission, it produces 85 kW and 260 Nm at peak.

With an impressive 224-millimetre ground clearance, it stands a good distance over the ground for its short wheelbase. While we don’t have exact price numbers, we know there will be a significant increase for this version in Romania.
