Mercedes-AMG makes an aerodynamic roof box

Owners of Mercedes-AMG models require more luggage space according to the brand, which is why they have used their best in aerodynamic engineering to create a roof box. Because performance-focused vehicles need huge boxes that take away the performance.

Maximising aerodynamics for the least performance lost.

One might imagine that a large roof box made to increase luggage capacity would be hideous atop a Mercedes-AMG. But remember, it’s being designed by the same people who designed the car in the first place and they did a fantastic job of making it fit in. If a roof box could ever look sporty, this one is king.

Made from high-quality durable plastics, it’s shape flows with the roofline of all AMG models and you won’t even need to make it a permanent fixture. Thanks to a quick-release clamping system, you can return the car back to its former glory.

It’s not all just for looks, it’s as optimised as a roof box can get.

To improve aerodynamics, reduce noise and lower the effect it has on handling, the high-performance Mercedes-AMG team went through “extensive driving trials” to ensure this roof box performed at its best. To achieve this, the roof box makes use of stabilising fins, verticle ribs and a rear diffuser.

Inside it adds 410 litres of space which is more than some of the cars come with themselves. The luggage can also get up to 70 kg. You are potentially doubling (or more) your luggage space if you are taking your family out for a weekend holiday.

There is one major drawback. Even with all the work from the Mercedes-AMG team to create the ultimate performance roof box, putting one on still limits your maximum speed to 130 km/h. This is very fast for having up to 70 kg sitting above your car and when space is a necessity, it’s the best solution.
