Rolls-Royce brings a new Ghost to 2021

For the second-generation of the Ghost, Rolls-Royce has decided to make everything brand new in 2021. This has allowed Rolls-Royce to pack the Ghost full with new technology to make it even fancier than ever. Now while the 2021 Ghost is probably beyond all of our price ranges, it is still only the entry-level model behind the Phantom and the Cullinan.

Even though every single part was made new, the changes to the old model are still very subtle. The most notable change is the front bumper which now features a seamless black line that runs from one side to the other. Much like a well-groomed moustache. While the headlights do feature daytime running LEDs, Rolls-Royce didn’t stop there. The grill features LEDs too which have been designed to have a subtle fade from the top.

If it’s crazy levels of detail you are looking for, the whole body is hand-welded too. This is done to create a seamless design from the doors to the taillights. Speaking of the doors, they no longer just close automatically, they open automatically too with rear-opening back doors. Now owners won’t even need to wait for the driver to walk around and open it for them.

As luxurious as ever for both passenger and driver.

This wouldn’t be a Rolls-Royce if the interior didn’t overflow in luxury, which is exactly what you will get in a 2021 Ghost. Every old-school button and switch look fantastic on the high-quality materials that are used throughout. The dashboard is lined with satin-finished wood and just above that is the Ghost logo panel. As you can see, it lights up to resemble the stars that dot the roofline.

There are plenty of screens to go around, four of them to be precise. There are digital dials, designed to still look traditional, a central infotainment system and two touchscreens for the rear seats. With plenty of space back there, getting driven around will be as relaxing as ever. Packing your things or caught in the rain? The boot has 500 litres of space while each door has a secret umbrella hidden within it.

An entry-level that is quicker than the rest.

Rolls-Royce has made sure to tune the petrol engine for the best performance possible. It’s 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 now produces up to 420 kW and 850 Nm of torque. This can go to all four wheels although the Ghost is rear-wheel biased to sprint to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds. This makes the 2021 Ghost surprisingly quicker than the bigger siblings in the Rolls-Royce family. Unfortunately, like a lot of new cars, the top speed is electronically limited, but you will still get to a very generous 250 km/h.

This Ghost has been given a world-first wishbone dampener unit to the air suspension system. This will allow the Ghost to stay stable during acceleration and lane changes in addition to ignoring just about every bump on the road. The 2021 version of the Ghost will also now get the Rolls-Royce Flagbearer system as standard. This makes use of cameras and sensors to read the road to make adjustments to the suspension on the fly. We are starting to wonder if future Rolls-Royces will make drivers forget about there every being a road, to begin with.

Lastly, the Ghost also gets the latest in rear-wheel steering technology for smoother driving and better turn angles. This helps since this new Ghost is bigger than the first-generation.
