Ford expands its Everest range with new XLT 4×4

Our local lineup of the Ford Everest will now include a new XLT 4×4 derivative. It brings with it updates to the headlights on all XLT models and the range-topping Everest Limited. Sitting at the midpoint in the price for the Ford Everest range, the XLT 4×4 is now the cheapest all-wheel-drive option too.

Every Ford Everest XLT and Limited will be given an upgrade to the headlights. Ford is including new high-tech lights that will improve the “safety when driving at night due to the exceptional lighting performance and accuracy.” Daytime running lights have also been added for “daytime visibility,” but let’s be real here, it’s more for looks.

Under the hood is a single turbo 2.0-litre diesel engine with peak outputs of 132 kW and 420 Nm of torque. This is mated to the same ten-speed automatic transmission that has been the highlight to the latest Rangers. Its ability to quickly adapt to changes makes the ride a lot smoother as well as improve performance and fuel-efficiency.

Every Ford Everest XLT that comes with all-wheel-drive features a permanent four-wheel driving system controlled by an easy to use Terrain Management. This system comes with four drive settings: Normal, Rock Crawl, Mud and Sand. Parking sensors and Passive Entry and Passive Start (PEPS) also come standard. This will allow for keyless entry and push-button start.

The new Ford Everest XLT 4×4 will also come with a variety of safety features. These include Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system with Traction Control (TC), Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Load Adaptive control (LAC) and Roll Over Mitigation (ROM).

All Ford Everest models come standard with Ford Protect. This has a four-year/120 000km comprehensive warranty, three-year/unlimited distance roadside assistance and five-year/unlimited km corrosion warranty. A six-year/90 000km service plan is included, with 15 000km service intervals.

The price of the new 2.0 SiT XLT 10AT 4×4 will start at R679,400.
