Ferrari Portofino M is better than before

Ferrari has recently launched their new Portofino M and the premier was held online. This marks the brand’s first car to launch after its temporary closure. This is an updated version on the already existing Ferrari Portofino where the M means Modificata. This refers to the cars Ferrari has added updates and boosted performance. This means that we are looking at a more powerful Portofino.

Ferrari has kept the same Portofino but the M makes it a little more aggressive.

For the most part, the design of both exterior and interior have been left the same, but there are some small updates that make quite the difference. An even more aggressive sporty look was achieved through subtle cut-outs just in front of the wheel arches and new chrome slats in the grille. The update also includes diamond-finished alloy wheels and new diffuser that can be specified in carbon-fibre. Additional heated and ventilated seats can also be added as optional upgrades.

Power and control were both improved.

The M update to the Ferrari Portofino will come with a 3.9-litre V8 twin-turbo petrol engine that has an increased peak power of 456 kW and the same maximum torque of 760 Nm. This makes the peak output 14 kW more than before. This will be controlled by a new eight-speed web dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The engine is fitted with a particulate filter and updated catalytic converters, a requirement to reduce fuel emissions. These would normally change the exhaust key not that Ferrari holds dear, but they instead resigned the exhaust system in the Portofino M to maintain its iconic sound.

With the redesigned powertrain and new Race mode that can be activated from the steering wheel, the speeds that the Portofino M reaches are no joke. It gets from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.45 seconds, to 200 km/h in 9.8 seconds and reaches top speeds of over 320 km/h.

The whole update improves performance and agility as Ferrari claims the Portofino M will be even better to handle on track on road. There were no launch dates for this GT roadster, but since the reveal has happened now, we guess that it might find it’s way to South Africa next year, 2021.
