2020 Jaguar F-Type lands in South Africa

The updated Jaguar F-Type for 2020 has finally landed on South African soil. It comes with a range of design and interior upgrades as well as 3 engine options the improve on the previous version. Our local range of the 2020 Jaguar F-Type will consist of 10 variants that start at R1,243,000. A special First Edition will also be available within 1 year of production start.

This 2020 Jaguar F-Type is more aggressive but not too much.2020 Jaguar F-Type front

The aggressive new style is sold with the larger honeycomb grille and slim LED headlights. We really like how Jaguar managed to find the sweet spot for how big the grille should be as it doesn’t dominate the whole design. The headlights are complete with J-shaped daytime running lights and the rear taillights are just as slim too. Last new design feature that is standard on all models is the clamshell bonnet.

The lower range R-Dynamic 2020 Jaguar F-Type rides on 19-inch alloy wheels. The higher range R and special First Edition have 20-inch alloys and include the R body kit.

The biggest change within the interior of the 2020 Jaguar F-Type is definitely the instrument cluster and the seats. Starting with the technology, the digital instrument cluster is a large 12-inch screen. The touch screen infotainment system comes with both Andriod Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility and they are connected to a choice of 2 Meridian sound systems.

We personally love how neat everything in the centre console has remained. Keeping a good divide between you and your passengers, the controls and touch screen flow into the dashboard, splitting it in two.

The R-Dynamic models fain 6-way electric Sport seats as well as keyless entry and a panoramic sunroof. The R and First Edition have clear upgrades with 12-way electric Performance seats that have a memory. The upholstery in these higher range options is also made of Winsor leather. Very fancy.

With 3 engine options, this Jaguar has a lot of performance.2020 Jaguar F-Type back

There are 3 different engine options. As standard, the 2020 Jaguar F-Type will come with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that packs 221 kW and 400 Nm. As a buyer, you can also opt for the more powerful supercharged 3.0-litre V6 with 280 kW and 460 Nm.

The F-Type R gets a 5.0-litre V8 with an improved, 423 kW and 700 Nm. That’s 18 kW and 20 Nm more than the previous generation. This should be good for a top speed of 300 km/h while reaching from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds according to Jaguar.

The special First Edition model will come standard with the 3.0-litre V6 but has all-wheel-drive included.

All three engines come with an 8-speed automatic transmission with active exhaust systems which buyers can choose to not have. The F-Type R has also had updates to the chassis for improved handling. This includes new adaptive dampers, springs, anti-roll bars and stiffer knuckles and ball joints.
