Toyota Supra GRMN gets an M3 heart
Toyota has given us some exciting news with a little bit of not so exciting news regarding the new Supra GRMN. The fact that a new Supra is on its way is exciting enough to make up for a lot of it and it’s getting a big performance upgrade. It’s no secret that the Supra is really a BMW and now, Toyota plans to change the engine to the same one as the new M3.
A GRMN badged Toyota sounds rather exciting but here is the little bit of bad news. It is only planned to go into production in 2023 where only a limited 200 units will be made. This is also what Toyota is calling the ‘ultimate edition’ Supra as they end production of the A90 generation in 2025.
That is, of course, well into the future.
Let’s rather look at what we can expect from this Toyota Supra GRMN.
As we have mentioned, BMW M’s latest engine will be used and it’s a 3.0-litre straight-6 that in competition versions of the BMW reach up to 375 kW. That is 90 kW more than the current Supra. Toyota has also made it clear that they will be fine-tuning their car to match the new performance figures to be even stronger than that.
BMW’s Z4 was once the cousin of the Supra, but this new Supra has taken a step ahead as BMW has not shared any intent of giving their Z4 any similar treatment. If you are a fan of the Supra or BMW, the GRMN is a car to look out for in later years.
