Refreshed Lexus IS confirmed for SA

Lexus has announced the arrival of its new IS and it will be coming to South Africa. It’s an improvement on the handling and overall drive according to Lexus and it will be the first to use the Japanese premium marque’s Driving Signature. It’s what we can expect to become the development standard.

The Lexus IS is strong, sturdy and aggressive.Refreshed Lexus IS confirmed for SA front

With sharp details and swooping designs, this new Lexus IS means business. It’s on a whole new level of aggressive combines with the lower and wider stance on the road. A revised grille looks fantastic with its 3D structure next to sharp headlights that have L shaped daytime running LEDs. The taillights echo that same L design in the 1-piece lighting element. I’m not usually a fan of the taillight running right over the boot, but I think my taste is starting to change after this car

Lexus has also newly designed 19-inch wheels for the IS and they look stunning especially so close to the low air intakes. Sporty and strong, this is a good start for the new IS.

Keeping the engaging driving position that works so well, they added a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This massive screen comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The twotone colour scheme combined with great looking material is incredibly inviting. I really hope to get in one of these so I can talk about it more soon.

More comfort and more safety.Refreshed Lexus IS confirmed for SA back

There are three engines attached to this Lexus, each one in increasing size. We start off with the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine followed by a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder hybrid petrol engine. To top it all off is a 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 petrol. Each one is attached to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The latest in safety technology has been added to this Lexus, mostly the features under the evolved Lexus Safety System+. These include Emergency Steering Assist, a Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Automatic High Beam and an improved Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) system.

Lexus has also gone to lengths to enhance the IS’s rigidity and comfort on the road. They say that they have improved elements such as the car’s responsiveness to driver inputs as well.

We can expect to see this gorgeous new car in early 2021 and Lexus has confirmed a 7-year warranty and maintenance plan that will be standard in South Africa.
