Porsche Cayenne GTS is coming with a V8

After leaks on Instagram, Porsche reacted the day after with the official announcement of the new Porsche Cayenne GTS and Cayenne Coupe GTS. Based on the 3rd-generation of Porche’s large SUVs, these two models bridge the gap between the entry Cayenne and the range-topping Turbo.

It’s a Porsche Cayenne with GTS flavour.Porsche Cayenne GTS front

It’s very obviously still the Porsche Cayenne we know and love with most of the changes to the GTS hidden under the bonnet. However, there are still some different, new and standard features we can discuss the overall design and exterior of the car.

To start, the ride height has been lowered by 22mm making it just a little bit sportier. That continues to the 21-inch RS Spyder Design alloy wheels matched together with upgraded cast-iron brakes with bright red callipers. Porsche do offer ceramic composite brakes and tungsten carbide coated anchors as additional options.

The body comes with black GTS decals and dark-tinted lights equipped with the Porsche Dynamic Light System. As standard, these GTS models also get the Porsche Design package which includes a gloss black finish on the bumpers, mirrors, windows and exhaust ends.

The interior design is just as sporty and has all of the features it’s S and Turbo siblings have. There is a fantastic use of materials that heighten the quality of the interior by miles. In fact, the Cayenne’s interior details are arguably the best for a Performance SUV at this price range. Loads of Alcantara is used with dark aluminium and if matched with the GTS Interior package, red stitching and Racy Rouge seat belts.

No more V6 and no more downsizing.Porsche Cayenne GTS back

It is a common trend to downsize the engine for economic purposes. Porsche said to hell with that, here’s a V8. Yes, the GTS comes with a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 with an output of 338 kW and 620 Nm of torque. It drives this through all 4 wheels, like any respectable big SUV, through an 8-speed automatic gearbox. If matched with the optional Sport Chrono package, Porsche says this GTS can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 270 km/h!

As standard, the GTS models come with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus). Porsche do have other upgrades available too, like a 10mm lower 3-chamber air suspension and rear-axle steering.

Porsche say that we can expect these new GTS models to appear in showrooms incredibly soon. We look forward to seeing more, Porsche.
