Hyundai is teasing us again with the i20 N

While the teasers are not the biggest surprise after the silhouette reveal, Hyundai is working on a new i20 N hot hatch. It’s their next performance-orientated vehicle and it’s now being tested in Sweden along with its Word Rally Championship (WRC) sibling. Hyundai i20 N hot hatch

2 videos of this hot hatch have been released on YouTube showing off the WRC Hyundai i20 N with Thierry Neuville, their racer. In 1 of the videos, Thierry Neuville gets into a non-rally car that would be the production model.

“Very precise. Very easy handling. The engine is revving nicely, and the noise is very interesting as well. I’m looking forward to get this one to drive in WRC.” – Thierry Neuville

While Hyundai has not confirmed any details of the i20 N, many sources predict there to be a turbocharged 6-litre petrol engine with around 150 kW and 300 Nm. They also predict it to be only front-wheel-drive. It is also possible that this new i20 N could be given Hyundai’s newly developed 8-speed N Dual-Clutch Transmission.

Hyundai is not the only manufacturer to recently show the production version of their WRC competitor. Toyota has fully revealed their GR Yaris, a powerful all-wheel-drive car that looks like a lot of fun. However, if the predictions are true, a less powerful front-wheel-drive may not compete directly with the Yaris. Rather, it would compete with the Volkswagen Polo GTI.

We are quite excited to see what is in the future of this i20 N and we expect Hyundai to reveal more details now that we have seen a glimpse of it.
