The small delivery car, Hyundai Casper
Hyundai has added a new van to its lineup, the Casper, developed as an urban delivery vehicle. Much like the i10 Cargo, which we have available in South Africa, the Casper is a compact crossover without back seats and window bars.
Hyundai South Africa has not mentioned if the Casper will become available in South Africa. It will only recently become available in Korea, so time will tell.
The small crossover can carry over 900 litres.
The Hyundai Casper is only 3.59m from bumper-to-bumper. Despite its small stature, it has a cargo capacity of 940-litres. This makes it one of the cutest cargo vehicles available.
To keep that cargo in place and not crash into the driver with emergency brakes, cargo partitioning has been put in place. For additional cargo safety, the Casper has been given intrusion bars behind the rear windows and tailgate glass.
Hyundai is giving two engine options for the Casper.
There are two engine options being given to the Hyundai Casper. Both are 1.0-litre petrol engines with a four-speed automatic transmission.
The first is naturally aspirated and produces 56 kW and 95 Nm which is likely all that will be needed since urban deliveries are what it is built for. If more power is required, a turbocharged version would fit the bill with 75 kW and 172 Nm.
The several safety features for the Casper include six airbags, forward collision warning and high-beam assistance.
Since the i10 Cargo is already available in South Africa, do you think this specialised model will be brought to our local shores?
