The Hyundai M.Vision concept is a small sideways driving vehicle
Along with extreme plans of putting robots everywhere, Hyundai has shown off the M.Vision POP EV and M.Vision 2GO as part of the CES lineup. Both of which are hydrogen-powered concept vehicles made for the busy urban environment.
The big achievement for these concepts is the 90-degree rotating wheels that allow these small mobility vehicles to move sideways or turn without moving forwards or backwards. Away with the dreaded three-point turn.
The Hyundai M.Vision concept will drive sideways.
Hyundai calls it the e-corner module and it can be added to the electric skateboard chassis’ that are already in use. This is not too surprising that Hyundai has shown this off now though as the company has been preparing for the M.Vision concept since 2018. If all goes according to plan, the brand will put these steering modules in use by 2023.
The system itself works completely separate from the rest of the car and makes use of steering, braking, suspension, and driving ability to navigate very tight and narrow environments. All of which Hyundai see as a solution for urban transportation.
It is important to note that it’s likely we won’t see cars that look exactly like the M.Vision POP EV and M.Vision 2GO. As cute as they are, this was a show of the e-corner module.
