Lamborghini LP 780-4 Ultimae is the final Aventador

It’s a bittersweet time for Lamborghini as they announce its final Aventador model, the LP 780-4 Ultimae. As the last model, it certainly won’t be the least. With the naturally-aspirated V12 engine being phased out, Lamborghini gave it one last tune to make the LP 780-4 Ultimae the most powerful Aventador to date.

“The Aventador LP 780-4 denotes the final, purest, timeless naturally-aspirated production V12 Lamborghini.” – Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.

A fond farewell to the v12 with the Ultimae Aventador.

We usually talk about what make the car visually unique first, but that’s not what this model is about. It’s about that naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 powering this LP 780-4 Ultimae Aventador. It provides a massive 574 kW at 8 500 r/min and 720 N.m from 6 750 r/min to all four wheels. Rear-wheel steering is added too.

That’s 7 kW faster than the SVJ edition and it boasts very impressive sprint times. zero to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 355 km/h. This engine will be missed by Lamborghini fans as pressing vehicle emission laws. That too is bittersweet since a reduction in emissions is very important.

Performance aided by lightweight design.

The Lamborgini LP 780-4 Ultimae Aventador (we are just realising how hard that is to read) is built around a rigid carbon fibre monocoque and continues to use this material for the body. This gets it to weigh in at 1 500 kg.

To further its performance, the Ultimae Aventador has been equipped with a unique aerodynamic exterior package.

“It delivers the essential twelve-cylinder experience in terms of inimitable design, engineering solutions and the most emotive driving experience, and is the definitive Aventador concluding an extraordinary era. It is the last of its kind: it delivers the maximum power and conclusive performance expected from Lamborghini’s current V12 engine, combined with our inimitable flagship’s design DNA. The Aventador was destined to become a classic from launch, and the Aventador LP 780-4 is the most beautiful expression of timeless design and technical solutions in a final edition: Ultimae.” – Stephan Winkelmann
