Ineos Grenadier interior reveal

Ineos has just revealed the interior for their upcoming Grenadier and it’s intense. Taking inspiration not from cars, but aircraft and boats. This model could make its way to South Africa which has us excited. Not just because it’s something brand new, but because it’s something old.

If you haven’t heard about the Grenadier before this interior reveal, it’s essentially a modern-day Defender, brought to life by Ineos.

As an off-road focused vehicle, it naturally has water and dirt resistant materials on the seats and trim. While at the back, there is a non-slip material for luggage.

But all of that is expected for a car like this, what stands out the most is the centre console, filled with a plethora of massive buttons, switches and dials. Ineos has almost completely let go of the digital trend for the Grenadier interior.

The buttons continue onto the steering wheel for quick access satellite control and a button for the hooter. A hooter with a cheeky “TOOT” label and a cyclist icon. Need to tell those pesky cyclists that you are about to drive into them. In between the two seats, there is a BMW transmission shifter next to a low-range transfer case shifter. Ineos has also opted for a traditional parking brake over an electric one.

The buttons and switches don’t stop.

If all those buttons seemed like a lot, then hold tight, because the Grenadier has an aeroplane-like interior. On the ceiling, there is another panel with switches for things like the electrical system and differentials locks. Flanking than panel are two skylights.

Ineos hasn’t completely gotten rid of digitisation.

Above all the buttons and the air vents is a large 21.3-inch infotainment screen equipped with the BMW Drive system. Like other BMW models that all use this system, it comes compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which is a relief.
