Ferrari 296 GTB unveiled with new engine

Ferrari has unveiled the new 296 GTB and it’s the first of their cars to be powered by a six-cylinder engine. Although this new engine is smaller than every other model, it is by no means any slower. In fact, it’s right up there with the top-performing Ferrari’s thanks to its hybrid tech.

The Ferrari 296 GTB is the “perfect marriage of simplicity and functionality.”

Ferrari has kept the architecture simple, referring to models back in the 60s. In particular, the 1963 250 LM. Inside, the cabin has a large focus on digital interfaces. The screens move with the lines of the dashboard which in turn keeps the same flowing design that the exterior has.

Powering the Ferrari 296 GTB is a hybrid plug-in setup combines with a twin-turbocharged 3,0-litre V6 petrol engine. The electric motor is connected to a 7.45 kWh battery that can drive the car on electric power alone for 25 km. This set-up is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and powers the rear wheels with a combined total of 610 kW and 740 Nm.

On the track, this car will reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 2.9 seconds, then to 200 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The top speed is 330 km/h. As we mentioned earlier, right up there with its Ferrari family.
