Rimac Nevera 1408 kW EV hypercar

Rimac Automobili, the supercar manufacturer, has recently revealed its latest electric hypercar, the Nevera. Named after a Mediterranean storm, this model is the production-ready version of the C_Two concept car and it shows some really impressive figures.

Every Rimac Nevera will be unique to the buyer.

Rimac Automobili will only be making 150 models of the Nevera and they say that no two cars will be identical. Each buyer will have a wide range of choices for trim and materials. They will also each be invited to visit them in Croatia to be part of the design.

The body itself will remain the same for each with a very impressive monocoque construction that incorporates 2200 carbon fibre plys and 222 aluminium inserts. All put together, the Nevera weighs in at 2150 kg and boasts a 48/52 weight distribution.

“This is it. This is the car I had in mind when I embarked on the ‘impossible’ journey ten years ago. All our hard work has resulted in the Nevera – our record-breaking hypercar. This car was born to outperform, and to raise the bar, redefining the norm for performance cars. And not only in performance – but as an all-around package.” – Mate Rimac, Founder and CEO of Rimac Automobili.

An almost game-like system to improve your driving.

It’s difficult to talk about the cabin when every model is likely to be completely different. However, it will remain a two-seater and even though there are track-ready intentions, there is still comfort features and luggage space to make it just as capable of being a grand tourer. There are three digital screens that leave the interior clean and minimalist. Only the most essential features keep their physical buttons.

The Rimac Nevera will come with the world’s first AI driving coach. This system uses 12 ultrasonic sensors, 13 cameras, 6 radars and the latest NVIDIA Pegasus operating system which together, track and evaluate performance and give guidelines to the driver. This all happens in real-time and the data can be downloaded to a smartphone for review. It almost sounds like a feature we’d expect from a video game.

Two engines just won’t cut it. This Nevera means business.

We put that impressive 1408 kW in the title and it comes from four engines. One at every wheel, which is connected to a pair of single-speed gearboxes. This also puts out 2360 Nm of torque. A high-performance electric car needs a big battery to help with range and the Nevera has one. The motors are powered by a 120 kWh battery that claims a range of 550 km and can get to 80% of charge in 22 minutes using a 500 kW fast charger.

Naturally, there are very impressive acceleration figures, however, Rimac did use a one-foot rollout and a high-friction surface to get these number with the Nevera. That said, from zero to 100 km/h, the Nevera got there in 1.97 seconds and then to 300 km/h in 9.3 seconds. Then to reach a top speed of 412 km/h.

Controlling each motor is Rimac’s All-Wheel Torque Vectoring 2 system (R-AWTV 2). This calibrated the amount of torque sent to each wheel, making sure that the perfect amount of torque through each motor for the driving situation the car is in.
