2021 Volkswagen Polo facelift

After teasers and leaks, the upcoming facelifted Volkswagen Polo has been revealed. For the sixth generation, Volkswagen has given the Polo some Golf 8 inspired design and an update to the onboard technology.

2021 Volkswagen Polo gets a little Golf 8.

The Polo has always stayed true to its design and there is no exception here. Even so, there are still some updates to the exterior. The most notable one is in the lighting.

Across the grille, there is an LED light bar that connects the daytime running lights. The taillights get an update too, making them look a lot like those on the new Golf 8. They can also be specified with dynamic indicators. More updates include a revised bumper and fifteen-inch alloy wheels.

At the top of the range, there is the R-Line which we see in the images. Its bumpers are more sporty and it rides on larger sixteen-inch wheels. Additionally, it gets new IQ.light matrix LED headlights but it also gets chrome-effect faux exhaust and a fake diffuser. It honestly would have looked just fine without the latter two.

New interior updates.

Inside the cabin, the Polo gets a new eight-inch digital instrument cluster but it can come in 10.25-inches when the Digital Cockpit Pro is specified. There’s also a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system which too, can be specified on larger sizes – eight-inch or 9.2-inch. The system is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Below the touchscreen is a touch-sensitive panel with a digital display for the automatic climate control. Right there, there is an additional USB-C port and a wireless charging pad.

The same engine with some automated driving.

It’s the same turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine that powers the new Volkswagen Polo. It comes with either 70 kW or 85 kW and a choice of a five-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

To match new tech, this Polo has been given semi-autonomous driving assistance thanks to the lane-keep assistance and the predictive adaptive cruise control. This will let the polo drive itself to a very limited extent as long as the driver has their hands on the wheel.
