All new locally-made 2021 Nissan Navara
Nissan South Africa will be building the new 2021 Navara in South Africa which of course means that it will be available here and we have pricing. But before we get into that let’s take a closer look at what this new model will bring to our roads in June.
“With the introduction of the all-new Navara pickup in South Africa, we are confident that the significant technical changes implemented across our extensive line-up, will deliver the ultimate customer experience, with enhanced ride comfort, load-carrying capacity, and a powertrain selected specifically for the South African market.” – Stefan Haasbroek, Marketing Director at Nissan South
The Nissan Navara gets tougher looks for 2021.
At first glance, the tall grille and new headlamps that feature 4 LEDs stand out. They set this Navara apart from the much smoother design of the previous generation. Overall, the outside is more rough and rugged, following the latest bakkie trend. Thanks to a higher load box, the 2021 Navara will have an increased payload of 100 kg. A nice addition for those in need of carrying a bit more.
The SE Plus and LE variants will gain an additional step on the rear bumper for easier loading. However, the DC variants will get an easy-life tailgate and a torsion bar.
Infotainment has not been left behind on the higher-spec models. They will receive an eight-inch navigation screen and an additional seven-inch screen. The system will come with Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto.
A lot of reworking for a focus on driver comfort.
Nissan is covering every base with the 2021 Navara. From 4×2 single-cabs to4x4 double-cabs. One thing they all have in common is the engine. Each Navara is powered by the same engine with the exception of the entry-level model that gets a petrol engine with 118 kW and 233 Nm.
The engine every other model shares is a 2.5-litre 4four-cylinder turbocharged diesel that gets two states of tune. The first has 120 kW and 403 Nm and comes with the option of manual or automatic. The second has 140 kW and 450 Nm and only comes with a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
Driver comfort was a big focus for the new model which is why Nissan has reworked much of the internal parts. These include:
- New chasses.
- New dual-rate 5-link coil suspension.
- Increased rear height.
- Improved shock absorber damping.
For towing, the company gave the bakkie a Trailer Sway Control (TSC) system that, with yaw-rate-monitoring, can detect the trailer’s self-oscillation. Vehicle Dynamic Control system (VDC) has also been added that enables the Navara to handle the brake pressure of the trailer to reduce self-oscillation.
Price for the new Nissan Navara in South Africa.
The prices given include VAT and the 2021 Nissan Navara is sold with a six-year/90 000 km service plan and a six-year/150 000 km warranty.
