Segway could make an electric motorcycle, the Ninebot Apex H2
This is the Segway Ninebot Apex H2, an electric hydrogen hybrid motorcycle. As the brands latest creation, it is definitely the most ambitious one yet. Using a fuel cell rather than a lithium-ion battery to power an entire motorcycle, Segway has come a long way from just self-balancing scooters.
Since Ninebot purchased Segway, the creations the company have put into the market have gotten way more adventurous. ATVs, robots, the brand really branched out which might make seeing an entire motorcycle give less whiplash.
While Segway isn’t giving away many details, we do have some of their prediction and an estimated production schedule of 2023.
Segway make the Apex H2 a Tron-like motorcycle.
Mercedes Streeter from Jalopnik described the design as a “Tron light-cycle mashed together with a Husqvarna Vitpilen 701” and we couldn’t agree more. The right coloured lights and very unique suspension setup definitely give it that look. What is important to note is that we only have rendered images of an EV that is well away from production, so the design might change quite a bit.
Speaking of the suspension, the Segway Ninebot Apex H2 has single-sided swingarms for both the front and rear wheels that make them appear as though they are floating in place. Jalopnik also pointed out the double-wishbone front end.
This will be a very impressive motorcycle to see on the streets if Segway manages to keep it the same as the rendered images. It will be doubly so at night with all the glowing parts on the wheels and body.

The Segway Ninebot Apex H2 will use both electric and hydrogen energy which does bring up several questions. The first one that comes to our mind is where can you refuel this thing?
Right now, there is a scarce supply of electric charging stations and even less hydrogen infrastructure (almost non-existent). Perhaps Segway has further plans to support the Ninebot Apex H2, but we have no way of knowing.
Putting questions aside, the little detail that Segway has given include some estimated performance numbers that are very impressive. The motorcycle will be able to produce 60 kW and reach a top speed of 150 km/h. This will allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just four seconds.
While the estimated range wasn’t shared, the brand has said that the Apex H2 will use one gram of hydrogen per kilometre.
If Segway manages to pull this motorcycle off and supply a way to keep this thing driving, it will be a very impressive vehicle.
