Meet the Nimbus Halo EV

This really thin looking car is the creation of an EV company called Nimbus and they named it, Halo. Marketed as a “transportation alternative”, it is made to replace your daily commuter. Much like the Aptera, it also only features three wheels.

What is offered is a small EV that is classified as a motorcycle but features the safety of a car. So much so that drivers won’t even need a Motorcycle licence. to drive one.

The stylish city pod. Nimbus Halo.

Nimbus has made what looks like a stylish pod on wheels. This very futuristic looking type of alternative vehicle is becoming more and more popular over time. Finished in two-tone grey and white, the Halo is made from high-strength steel with a thermoplastic shell. It will ride on alloy wheels.

With similar proportions to larger motorcycles, the very thin EV should be able to weave through traffic. Weighing in at 290 kg or 315 kg depending on the battery size, you might think that it could get top-heavy and topple over.

Nimbus has thought about that and given the Halo something they call Nimbus Balance. This ensures that the vehicle maintains its stability regardless of the speed and will make the EV lean over around corners. Just like a motorcycle except the car does it for you. We expect this make driving one of these feel a little like an exciting rollercoaster.

Nimbus Halo

Recognisable driver space from a standard car.

For the driver, there is a space similar to that of a standard car. It features the exact same controls you would see in a car too. While this might seem like a one-person vehicle, if you take a closer look, you will see that there is a second seat right behind the driver.

While we doubt there is any amount of space for a comfortable ride, it might be alright for a trip down the road. What this space might be more useful for is luggage. Nimbus claims that there will be enough space for groceries.

The interior is complete with climate control and Bluetooth speakers. An infotainment touchscreen can be optionally added. As for the safety of the driver and probably crunched passenger, there are three airbags and sensors to prevent collisions. The Halo will also come with Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS).

Nimbus Halo

Built for commuting through the city.

There are two battery options that power the Halo – an 8.1 kWh and a 12.4 kWh option. The first battery will have a predicted range of 126 km while the latter will reach 191 km. Both have a limited top speed of 80 km/h which means you may want to stick to the city.

To support the Halo, the company has plans to install fast-charging infrastructure to select cities. These will be called Nimbus Zones. These should be able to fully charge the Halo in a mere two hours but an onboard charger for overnight charging will be available.

A sporty Halo X is also on the cards with a top speed of 145 km/h and a range of 352 km.
