Mercedes-Benz EQS interior revealed with massive screens

The massive Hyperscreen has drawn a lot of attention to the recently revealed 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS interior reveal. After creating the single screen that so many other brands have followed on from, Mercedes-Benz has outdone themselves with the biggest internal display yet.

This screen interior design has caused the upcoming EQS to receive some negative feedback, mostly to do with maintenance. But let’s first talk about it.

The EQS interior is dominated by a massive MBUX Hyperscreen.

The MBUX Hypescreen is a system that involves several displays that are all put behind one merged scratch-resistant screen. It spans the whole of the dashboard to reach 1410 mm in width and fits the air vents within it.

There is a mix of cabin and entertainment controls that can be accessed through this screen with minimal physical buttons. Not that there would be any space for them anyway. On the passenger side, there is a dedicated display for them which can save up to seven profiles. This screen turns on a screensaver-like display of stars when there is no passenger.

One big critique about this screen is the maintenance. While all large displays get fingerprints and collect dust, a screen this size will make it all more evident and have more space to clean. As for what happens when you crash, Mercedes-Benz says the interior of the EQS has built-in breakpoints that will yield in a targeted manner.

If this giant screen is not to your liking but you still want an EQS, there is a standard interior option with a vertical floating infotainment screen and a separate digital driver’s display. Like this, the dash can be finished in wood, metal or a range of other materials.

With either interior, the rest of the interior for the EQS looks great. There is a clean white and blue colour scheme with what looks like a lot of space. The EQS will also come with a HEPA filter and a Mercedes fragrance that can sweeten the air. We hope that can be turned off or changed based on preference.

While we think this is a cool way to push the idea of cabin design, the new EQS interior is likely up to personal preference (and wallet size, a screen like that will probably come with a massive price tag). So we want to know, do you like the new Hyperscreen?
