Jeep trailhead charging stations for EV off-roading
If you remember the EV Jeep announcement, the 4xe, you will have seen the sneak peek image for these charging stations. It will be called the 4xe Charging Network which will allow EV and hybrids to charge while off-roading.
Jeep said that the electric 4xe would be just as trail-ready as any other Jeep would be which then took a knock when the advertised 40 km of range only turned out to be 34 km. Not to mention, trailheads are very often bare, but now they will include charging stations to keep the 4xe and others going.
The Jeep 4xe Charging Network stations.
At launch, Jeep will be supplying Level 2 charging stations at several off-road trailheads around America. This is a twelve-month project that will focus on the most important locations to Jeep. These are Moab, Utah, Big Bear California and the Rubicon Trail in Pollock Pines California.
Following them will be 56 more Badge of Honor trails that will be part of a reward system on Jeep’s app. All of these stations will be made in collaboration with Electrify America and can charge the Jeep Wrangler 4xe in around two hours. So two hours for less than 34 km.
These charging stations will be available for all EV and hybrid owners but to Jeep Wrangler 4xe owners, they will be free. At least at the beginning of this project.
We want to ask all the off-road driver’s out there, would this actually be something you would be happy changing to in the future?
