EV startup Maple Majestic shows off a scale model

With the EV industry growing, there are many startups coming to compete and the latest one is a brand called Maple Majestic. With the most Canadian name possible, it comes as no surprise to learn that it’s a brand under AK Motor International from Canada. There is just one thing throwing us off and that is the scale model used to reveal their car.

The reveal of Maple Majestic.

Ak Motor announced the Maple Majestic brand at the end of February with images of a to-scale model of what will be their first production car. Many manufacturers don’t use fully build cars to reveal the designs of upcoming cars. They post sketches, renders and more recently virtual models.

When considering that Arkadiusz Kaminski, the CEO of AK Motor, formerly worked in a toy company, it all makes sense for a scale model to be part of the press release. But this one has moments on it that just break the illusion of reality and made us giggle.

The way that the reflection on the front window distorts clearly shows its true size while you can even, at moment, see the poor cameraman who is hunching down to film the model. Apart from this, the car is actually quite a looker.

The car behind the toy model.

“We didn’t invent the electric car, but we are here to make it civilized. Maple Majestic shouldn’t be thought of as a sedan but rather more of a supercar with four doors. The fact that the concept has supercar proportions doesn’t hurt either, but it all stems from a thorough rethinking of EV packaging.” – Arkadiusz Kaminski, Chief Executive Officer, AK Motor International Corporation

While the design clearly rivals that of a Tesla, Maple Majestic have a slightly different target market in mind. According to the brand, the car will be built to handle the snowy winters of Canada and the other tough terrain the country has to offer.

Part of how Maple Majestic is achieving this is with an adjustable suspension. They have said that there will be 150 mm of ride height adjustability. This will give the car a ground clearance of 140 mm to 290 mm. This should give enough ground clearance to handle snowy roads and even some off-road environments. For what the call a supercar, this is rather impressive.

While Maple Majestic is clearly built for Canada, they have a clear intention of making it globally available. We will keep an eye out for how the Canadian EV does as it further develops away from being a scale model car.
