Ford and Google collaborate and shift to Android

Ford and Google have officially partnered creating a team they call Team Upshift. This collaboration will completely shift future Ford and Lincoln vehicles to the Android system. If you have seen our reaction to cars that only us Apple CarPlay, you will know that we are not fans of this arrangement. It’s never a good idea to exclude part of your market based on the type of phone they use.

This arrangement will bring Google’s technology into the future Ford vehicles and we can expect to see this shift happen in the year 2023.

“As Ford continues the most profound transformation in our history with electrification, connectivity and self-driving, Google and Ford coming together establishes an innovation powerhouse truly able to deliver a superior experience for our customers and modernize our business.” – Jim Farley, President and CEO of Ford.

As part of this announcement, Ford has also named Google Cloud as its preferred cloud provider. This union will allow Google to use its cloud to incorporate its artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics tech into Ford cars.

“From the first moving assembly line to the latest driver-assist technology, Ford has set the pace of innovation for the automotive industry for nearly 120 years. We’re proud to partner to apply the best of Google’s AI, data analytics, compute and cloud platforms to help transform Ford’s business and build automotive technologies that keep people safe and connected on the road.” – Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet.

From the beginning of 2023, Ford and Lincoln vehicles will start to get features directly from Google. These include Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play. It’s just a pity that in future reviews, we are going to have to complain about the lack of Apple support.

“We are obsessed with creating must-have, distinctively Ford products and services. This integration will unleash our teams to innovate for Ford and Lincoln customers while seamlessly providing access to Google’s world-class apps and services.” – Jim Farley, President and CEO of Ford.
