Mazda has recently added a new Carbon Edition derivative to its CX-5 range complete with darker colours. This variant is essentially an alternative to the rest of the CX-5 2.0-litre range and as such, gets the same specification level.
“The Mazda CX-5 is still an appealing SUV with its exterior styling, comfortable and pleasing interior, and the many standard features it offers. We have added the Carbon Edition to subtlety enhance the style of this SUV further, whilst retaining its outstanding balance of ride and handling.” – Craig Roberts, Managing Director of Mazda Southern Africa
The darker looks of the Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition.
The main exterior features are the gloss black exterior mirrors and the 19-inch black metallic alloy wheels. The Carbon Edition also comes with six different colour options, although with its name, it almost feels wrong to look at anything other than the grey. Here are the options:
- Snowflake White Pearl
- Sonic Silver
- Machine Grey
- Soul Red Crystal
- Polymetal Grey
- Jet Black
Inside the cabin, a black film covers the dashboard and door panels while leather and suede form the comfortable looking seats. They are highlighted by red stitching that also appears on the steering wheel, gear lever and knee pads.

The Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition will become available from all Mazda dealers from January 2021 and starts at R565,800.
It will come standard with a three-year unlimited kilometre service plan. A three-year factory warranty, three-year roadside assistance and a five-year Corrosion Warranty are also included.
