The All-new 2020 Hyundai Creta

It’s the new Hyundai Creta, the second generation, and it has been announced with pricing and specification. This SUV will be available in South Africa, going on sale from November already. So it’s already available.

New design style changes the headlight of the Hyundai Creta completely.

This model has a new style direction which is very evident in the headlights. Instead of a single headlight, it has now split into three pieces. Two-tone paint is additional if the buyer is willing to pay an extra R5000 more.

The executive grade models feature further upgrades like 17-inch wheels and fog lamps. These models also come with daytime running LEDs to really make the unique headlights stand out.

Inside the Hyundai Creta is smooth but standard. It comes with air conditioning and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system. We have seen that it is compatible with Apple CarPlay but nothing about Android Auto. This is hopefully something we have missed and not something the car is missing.

This system links you to park assist and park camera features and cruise control comes standard.

The Executive models come with two more additions. First, a wireless charging pad found right behind the gear selector. Second, artificial leather trim. The latter we feel is a bit tacky since artificial leather tends to crack if you keep it around for a while.

A new more powerful engine option.

Hyundai is giving the new Creta the option of three engines, two petrol and one diesel. The first is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 84 kW and 143 Nm. The second is a 1.5-litre turbodiesel that produces 84 kW and 250 Nm. It reaches a top speed of 173 km/h, just 3 more than the petrol engine.

Finally, the range-topping option. It comes with a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 103 kW and 242 Nm and gets to speeds of 185 km/h.

All models, with the exception of the top of the range, get to choose between a manual or a CVT transmission. The flagship model is offered exclusively with a dual-clutch transmission.

Each model comes standard with driver & passenger airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Programme and Hill-start Assist Control. The flagship model adds a bit more to that. It gets curtain and side airbags.
