Toyota Agya set for South Africa

Toyota has recently teased its new entry-level hatchback called the Agya. It is the replacement of the very similar named Aygo and will go under the moniker of Wigo in certain markets. From the Facebook post on Toyota SA’s page, let’s discuss what we know so far.

New looks for the new Agya.

Measuring in slightly larger than the previous Aygo, the Toyota Agya is 3 660 mm, 1 600 mm wide and 1 520 mm tall. This will hopefully mean more interior space for the little hatchback.

Surprisingly, the small hatchback has rather aggressive front bumpers. This is especially so considering its performance that we will discuss next. But it’s not too far off the looks of the Aygo. Making it a very clear successor.

Toyota is giving two engine options for the Agya.

While we cannot confirm what’s in store for South Africa, the Agya will come with two engine options. These include a 1-litre three-cylinder engine that has 49 kW and a 1.2-litre four-cylinder with 65 kW.

Both options can come mated to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.

As of now, the Agya is set to go on sale as early as the 25th of November 2020.
