Hyundai expands the N badge with Elantra and Tucson

Hyundai plans to expand its N line-up with at least seven new models. Out of these seven models, the brand has given two teasers for upcoming variants. The Elantra N and Tucson N Line.

These two fall part of the three pure N models and four N Line models that the brand will release in the coming years. As of right now, the teased vehicles, as well as the models we have yet to see, are planned for launch in 2020. This is, unfortunately, all plans for North America.

Our own local market has only seen the latest i30 N. But that doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing any more N and N Line models in South Africa.

“Hyundai is committed to developing exciting, heart-charging N models in varied segments that reflect our passion to indulge enthusiasts. We’re confident that enthusiasts will relish the agility and performance of our new N Line models.” – Olabisi Boyle, vice-president for product planning and mobility strategy at Hyundai Motor North America.

Hyundai Elantra N.

Right now, Hyundai has only revealed camo shots of the new Elantra N. While the camo prevents making out finer details, we can still make out the overall shape. The most stand out feature from the already aggressive sedan is the body panelling on the doors and the sleeker headlights.

As a full N model, this Elantra will include a performance boost in engine power and technical specifications. Details that we expect to see closer to the launch.

With a completely different approach to the teaser. Hyundai is hiding the finer details of the Tucson N Line in shadow. The N Line variants are visual upgrades which we can see in the revised grille and light designs.

The rear bumper also features a new, more aggressive, design including a fake diffuser. We know it’s “sporty” but we have seen too many fake diffusers lately. We also expect there to be new alloy wheel designs. The snowflake-like ones we see in the teaser are already stunning.

“I’m proud of what our talented N brand engineers, designers and product development teams have in store for enthusiast customers.” – Olabisi Boyle
