Lexus LC500 comes to South Africa

First introduced to us in 2017, the newly updated Lexus LC500 coupé has returned to South Africa. Filling in as a new luxury coupé, the brand says that the specifications will be noticeable. Having made updates to colour and handling, we think it will be.

The new Lexus LC500 comes in a striking new colour.

Two new colours have been added to the available options, Blazing Carnelian (what we see in the images) and Terrane Khaki. Choosing the Blazing Carnelian can change up the interior colour too, something we wish was standard with every other colour for the Lexus LC500. This change highlights the interior with Manhattan Orange. It really stands out against the typical plain black.

Speaking of the updates to the interior. A new high-resolution infotainment system with USB audio, Bluetooth and Miracast come as standard. It’s Apple Carplay and Andriod Auto compatible too.

The same engine with the same power but enhanced handling.

Equipped with the same 5.0-litre V8 that the previous generation had, it will still channel 351 kW and 540 Nm through a ten-speed automatic transmission through the rear wheels. This will have the Lexus LC500 sprinting from standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds.

As mentioned before, Lexus has done a lot to improve the handling of the LC500. They started by enhancing the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) for a smoother response to the driver and adding an Active Cornering Assist (ACA) for those windy roads.

The electric power steering, Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) and Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) has also been enhanced to improve the feel of the car while turning. Overall, we expect open roads in the hillside to be a lot of fun.

Pricing for the Lexus LC500 in South Africa.

The Lexus LC 500 is sold with a 7 year/105,000 km warranty and 4 year/100,000 km maintenance plan. Local pricing will start at R2,031,000.
