New 2020 Audi A4 refresh

Audi has revealed the local A4 lineup for South Africa 2020 with loads of new features. This facelift aimed to add a sportier style while increasing the intelligence of the operating system. If that rings a bell, then you have read our previous article about the new tech in the 2020 Audi A4. More on that later.

Sportier exterior design for the 2020 Audi A4.

Everything that is new about the 2020 Audi A4 bodywork all follows the brand’s sportier design language. The grille is flatter but a broader, almost like the previous generation got squished. But instead of looking stretched out, the grille and the rest of the horizontal lines all emphasise the width of the vehicle for road presence.

Riding on seventeen-inch wheels as standard, advanced and S line trims will get eighteen-inches while the range-topping S4 will have nineteen-inch wheels. These are all accompanied by a large colour selection for the body. Twelve different paint colours are available which include the new Terra Grey that we see in the images.

LED headlights are standard across the range, but their setup changes for each model. Each with daytime running LEDs, there is also an optional upgrade of Matrix LED headlights with fully automatic high beam.

Dominating the interior is the large 10.1-inch MMI touch display which will replace many of the physical buttons of before. It doesn’t get rid of every feature though and many functions can be controlled through the steering wheel too. Audi says that the interior can be customized with different leather or leatherette colours which are upgraded in the S line model. The S line will receive Fine Nappa leather with S embossing. To top off the interior features, there is mood lighting as standard.

Audi MMI and Connect.

While what we have seen so far is great, it’s nothing new. What truly stands out with the 2020 Audi A4 is the MMI system with Audi Connect. The touch screen should bring immediate familiarity with its smartphone-like interface. It comes fully compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto and can be controlled with natural-language voice commands. The Audi Technology Package comes optional which will improve the functionality of the system adding features like Sat Nav.

The true first for Audi is the Audi Connect feature which you can find out more in our article about it.
