Toyota give their Yaris Cross the GR badge
With the new Toyota Yaris Cross officially launching in Japan, there were also announcements of GR parts. There is a good reason for this and it’s because there is an intention to enter the Yaris Cross GR into the World Rally Championship. The best part about that competition is that it requires the brand to release a production version of the rally version which has also lead to us seeing a Yaris GR.
A rally look for the Yaris Cross GR.
Gazoo Racing has included numerous sporty upgrade features to the design. These include new black or red mud flaps, more aggressive bumpers and door decals. In addition, there will also be new 18-inch alloy wheels as well as a sporty exhaust.
Toyota will also be offering some additional upgrades with the Yaris Cross GR. A buyer could get a carbon-fibre reinforced numberplate frame, faux carbon-fibre door handle protectors and darker window tints. Inside there could also be a branded sunshade and luggage mat which for such a small SUV, should be quite large since the Yaris Cross boasts 390 litres in the boot.
No mention of mechanical upgrades yet.
There has been no mention of any mechanical changes or upgrades thus far. Although, we do expect there to be at least some adjustments, similar to that of the Yaris GR. For now, we expect the standard three-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol engine that can come as a hybrid with an 85 kW motor.
