Mercedes update their G-Class

Mercedes have been busy working on their G-Class and have recently announced an update. These changes include a few tweaks and several optional features have been made standard. These updates did not include the Mercedes-AMG G63 model, but we can expect similar changes to be made. Let’s look at the changes Mercedes has made.

Mercedes optional upgrades now come as standard in this G-Class update.Mercedes update their G-Class front

The exterior design of the Mercedes G-Class has not been changed in terms of shape. An additional 3 new exterior colours have been added to the list. Mercedes calls them ‘legendary colours’ that have been used on past G-Class models. Along with that little bit of history, new 20-inch light-alloy wheels have been fitted with two colour options – High-gloss black and Himalaya grey.

Before, the Night Package was only available on the higher trim models. That is no longer the case. You can give the Mercedes version of the Batmobile experience to all G-Class models after this update.

Three optional upgrades have been made as standard on the Mercedes G-Class interior update. These are the Digital cockpit, frameless rearview mirror and the Parking Package. With these additions becoming standard, the optional G-Class upgrade list has had update my Mercedes too. This should allow even more personalized customizations to their SUV.

A G400d for all and the new Desert drive mode. Mercedes update their G-Class back

Mercedes biggest engine option, the G400d, is now available on all trim levels. This means you can get 243 kW and 700 Nm out of even the entry-level G-Class. This also comes with the new Desert drive mode designed to optimize traction on sandy surfaces. As with all the other modes, it will be accessible through the Dynamic Select switch.

While there are no big visual upgrades or changes to the performance, Mercedes have still made the update to the G-Class substantial enough to make waiting for it worthwhile. We do not know how this will affect the price but we can be fairly confident in saying that with more features, it will cost more too.
