Suzuki Ignis gets an update is SA
Suzuki has brought their very popular best-selling Ignis back with an update. Yes, the new facelifted Ignis returns with more style and improved tech while staying at the same price as before. It all sounds very impressive, so let’s talk about what’s new.
The update gives the Suzuki Ignis a new look.
From a first glance, the most stand out feature is the new grille. Almost Jimny inspired, it features square chrome accents next to the fresh headlight design. Just underneath the grille is a redesigned front bumper while the rear bumper stays the same but is colour-coded. Speaking of colour, there is a lot of new exterior and interior colour combinations. A two-tone option is also available for extra style. Overall, it’s a very good-looking facelift from the outside.
There is not much new in the interior.
The cabin is left rather untouched. Depending on the colour options you went for, it will feature a new blue or silver accents. In the back, the seating is left to a 60:40 split with a 260-litre boot just behind it. There will be more details about interior features when to discuss the range options.
No update needed for the Suzuki Ignis engine.
The update to the Suzuki Ignis does not change its already well-performing engine. It still has the same 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that drives 61 kW and 113 Nm through the front wheels. As standard, they come equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission but the range-topping GLX has the option of Suzuki’s automated manual transmission. As for safety, 2 Airbags and ABS with EBD also come standard.
Two trim options with many different features.
There are 2 trim levels when it comes to the Suzuki Ignis, the GL and the GLX. There are a handful of differences about them that could make the almost R20 000 difference worth it.
The GL comes with everything we have previously mentioned with the inclusion of Bluetooth radio. One rather disappointing feature is the wheels which get a plastic wheel cover. It costs R182 900.
If you choose to go for the GLX you get the following upgrades. Roof rails on top and wheel-arch extensions on the bottom. The wheels are also black alloys. The front of the GLX is fitted with LED headlights and Daytime Running Lights and foglamps. Inside the standard radio is replaced by an infotainment touchscreen that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Getting inside can also be made easier with keyless entry and push-button start. The GLX’s price comes in at R204 900 or R221 900 is you opt for the automatic.
This new update for the Suzuki Ignis ships standard with Suzuki’s 2-year/30 000 km service plan and a promotional 5-year/200 000 km warranty.
