Lotus is making a new everyday sports car
There’s nothing new about a Lotus made for track day, but what if there were plans for something more everyday. That could be the future in the coming years as Lotus has recently announced some interesting news.
It’s an entry-level everyday sports car. With a current price estimated to be between 55 000 and 100 000 pounds, it’s still an expensive vehicle but that beats any other Lotus. This one should have enough space for everyday use too according to Lotus.
Lotus have already made the switch to electric, this sports car being their last combustion engine vehicle. It could be carrying the combustion engine around for a while. Lotus CEO, Phil Popham, mentioning potential sedan and SUV models.
“Our focus now is on sports cars, but we do think the brand has the potential to move into other segments.” – Phil Popham, Lotus CEO.
Inspired by the Evija
If you have not yet seen Lotus’ electric hypercar, it’s called the Evija and it’s what you see in the images. With 4 motors, lightweight design and aerodynamic body, this car creates an estimate of 1470 kW and 1700 Nm and it only weighs 1680 kg.
As a combustion engine car, there is no way that this lotus will be able to look exactly like an Evija. But, consider it to be Lotus’ prophesy to their new everyday car and we can start to imagine what their entry-level car might be like.
We are excited to have a Lotus that we may be able to spot driving around the roads.
