SA lockdown for COVID-19

As of today, the 27th of March 2020, South Africa has gone into lockdown to lower the curve of COVID-19. This means a lot of people who do not work in ‘essential’ companies are at home. The Car Market is still going to be around to keep you company.

All forms of transport are being affected by this lockdown, public transport only being around during peak hours. Those using private transport will need to receive a permit.

“If for example, you are working in a supermarket, Pick n Pay will have to produce a permit for each worker that shows you are permitted to work on this day in terms of the regulation and the lockdown.” – Fikile Mbalula, Minister of Transport.

For all those travelling to work or to the shops to buy essentials, please remember to stay safe. There is a huge decrease in traffic and unfortunately, this has meant an opportunity for some to drive recklessly.

An unintended consequence of the coronavirus and the associated closures of schools, tertiary institutions, and businesses, is that fewer people are on the country’s roads. This will in all likelihood lead to a drop in the number of crashes, injuries and fatalities. But this doesn’t open the door for those still on the roads to behave as they wish.” – AA.

We also urge good hygiene in your vehicles. Make sure to regularly wipe down surfaces that get touched.

A lot is changing on South African roads. Let’s get through this COVID-19 lockdown together, safely and hygienic.
