The A is for Autobiography in Range Rover Velar SVA
The name is a mouthful so bear with me, Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic edition or as I’m going to call it to save our time, SVA. Why such a long name? There is probably no good reason for that or maybe it’s because by the time you have said the name you could walk from one end to the other.
The Velar SVA is a big sporty car.
This Range Rover has much more presence and aggression with its massive size. Everything has been subtly changed to give a sportier look including the front and rear bumpers. As standard, there are LED headlights and pop-out door handles which are very fun. Along the side, there are new 21-inch alloy wheels that can be upgraded to 22 inches if you are willing to pay more.
It looks sporty but most importantly. How about inside?
Inside the Range Rover Velar SVA, you will be sitting down in leather sport seats that can be adjusted electronically and get back massagers. Back seats are the same minus some of the luxury features but are just as comfortable. There has been some focus on the places that you are more likely to touch and nice use of high-quality material like aluminium trims. Go a little lower down and you will find some scratchy plastic.
The infotainment system is called Touch Pro Duo, a dual touchscreen system that allows more information to be displayed to the driver. This SVA gets dynamic response settings too and some sporty functions like a lap timer.
I mentioned there is a nice amount of space before, but it seems like even more inside the car, helped by the panoramic glass roof. That’s not where the space stops. There is even more inside the 673-litre boot.
It drives as mean as it looks.
Equipped with a 5-litre supercharged V-8, the one you see in the Jaguar SVR, it’s a 4-wheel drive with power. It gets up to 405 kW and 680 Nm of torque. Want to go fast? You can get to 100 km/h from standstill in just 4.3 seconds.
Some more features that come standard are air suspension to adjust the height, front and back anti-roll bars and an upgraded sports exhaust for being loud. Everything has been calibrated to give a more dynamic feel to the drive and it can also switch to 2-wheel drive if you find the need.
To be expected, it isn’t cheap.
You can get one of these beasts in South Africa for around R1 743 325. That is not including any upgrades you might want or the gorgeous satin-finished byron blue paint.
If that price didn’t shock you, it will only be around for 1 year before going off-market. It will also defiantly be an enjoyable car to have that will make driving that much more fun.
