Barons Pietermaritzburg was bestowed the award of the best Volkswagen Dealership in South Africa in 2014. Volkswagen recently hosted its annual gala dinner in Johannesburg to honour the best performing Dealerships in different categories which included Dealer of the Year and Dealer Group of the Year.

In his maiden official address to the Volkswagen Dealers and their Partners, the new Managing Director of Volkswagen Group South Africa, Thomas Schaefer said: “Volkswagen has become a real driving force in the South Africa. We are a passenger car market leader, number one in Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI), near the top of the Dealer Satisfaction Index (DSI) ratings, winner of numerous awards ranging from advertising to our environmental initiatives and well-known for our benchmark corporate social responsibility initiatives. We have a modern factory and supplier park in Uitenhage, employing thousands of South Africans. The Volkswagen Plant in South Africa is a highly respected member of the Volkswagen Production network worldwide.”

Schaefer added: “All of this success could not have been possible without the continued and sterling support from our Dealer Network which ensures that our products find their way into customers’ hands and hearts.”

Volkswagen sets targets for its 106 Dealerships during the year across various disciplines of the business, including amongst others sales volumes and more importantly, Customer Service Delivery to our valued Volkswagen Customers.

In order to be presented with the “Dealer of the Year” award, the winning Dealership must excel in all major disciplines of the business. The best performing Dealerships are invited into the “Volkswagen Club of Excellence”, where the overall best performer is awarded with the “Dealer of the Year” Status.

Kevin Pillay, in his inaugural year as Dealer Principal at Barons Pietermaritzburg said. “The award is the reward for our team’s hard work, passion and dedication in delighting our customers and truly living the values of the Volkswagen Brand. The award will lift our team’s spirit and motivate us to continuously improve our service to our customers.”

Barons Pietermaritzburg employs 80 people.

Hatfield Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles received the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Dealer of the Year award.

For the first time this year, Dealer group of the year award was separated into two categories, Micro and Macro. The Dealer Macro Group of the Year was presented to Barloworld Group and Dealer Micro Group of the Year went to Hatfield Group.
